Resurrecting Old Blog Post: "Digging into a Feeling to Paint" 1/29/22
*This is at the Sunflower House
In the Before Times I asked a co-worker "what style painting he would like if I made him one". He made a scarf and gave it to me so I figured we could do a trade. He said he really liked Picasso's Blue period. I knew that I would really have to dig in to find that emotion. I don't suffer from depression or mental anguish unless I experience serious loss. Death or an animal, family member, loss of dream etc.
I heard LAMB "Spectacle" for the first time and the lyrics struck me to the core. This is what I will paint.
Youtube LAMB - "The Spectacle"
"And so into the darkness, they buried their lives
And gave it away to the stars and the sky"My interpretation around the song really stirred up thoughts about structured religion, duty and sacrifice. Why would someone stay in a place or situation they are miserable? How does ones religion dictate decisions on life choices? Are there people out there burying "themselves" in order to fit into a religious or cultural/philosophical construct either by choice or forced on them? Yes, I think there are. These are controversial topics for some, but for me seems simple. Seek your happiness and joy. Once you find it, spread it around. Be daring and don't bury yourself or your dreams.
